We know what the BMW G80 M3 Competition looks like, We've seen the color options , BMW has explained to us how the aerodynamics function , and we understand how M Mode works , but there's one little thing that we need to know: how much power does the new G80 M3 competition really make. We all know the drill; manufacturers come out with a new performance model that feels much faster than the factory power figures suggest. Plop said car on the rollers and low and behold, the car makes more power than what is officially stated. Now it's the G80 M3 Competition's turn, and we suspect that the numbers are going to be impressive. This brand new car has had its break-in service done, so any horsepower that was hiding in the creases have now been released although we think a few more will make themselves known as the car puts on the miles. In standard guise it puts out horsepower and lb-ft of torque which is 48 hp more than the outgoing model. In Competition configuration, it makes an even more impressive hp and lb-ft of torque according to BMW. So how does it fair on the dyno? On its first two runs the car is tested in RWD config and in dyno mode. The figures: hp and lb-ft of torque. So it turns out that the car didn't make the factory quoted power, though the official numbers are measured at the crankshaft and not the wheels. It did beat it's advertised torque figure, by a wide margin. Of note, a stock F80 M3 makes hp at the wheels hp advertised , and an F80 with a stage 2 tune makes around hp at the wheels on the same dyno.

First off, just a brief history on myself. I remember my first ever Roundel magazine as a kid which had the now legendary E46 M3 on the cover. That is still my favorite M3 to date. It was meant to be right? I am also around them a lot since I run Philly Bimmer Club and host many meets during the car seasons. The point of this review is to focus mainly on my mods and experience daily driving this beast the past 6 months. And there are a lot of modifications done to the car, so fair warning ahead.
