The first two episodes of the Frasier reboot lay the groundwork for Frasier Crane's new life in Boston. Kelsey Grammer has officially returned to the small screen as the beloved highbrow therapist. Despite the original show being both a critical darling and a fan favorite, launching the Frasier reboot was no easy feat, with the absence of so many original characters posing major narrative issues for Grammer and his team. As it turns out, his experiences have been a mixed bag of personal wins and losses. They also offer some updates about how the rest of the Cranes are doing since he left Settle 19 years ago. John Mahoney's death in long ruled out the appearance of the Crane patriarch and posed a major challenge to the revival. Grammer, who also produces the show on top of starring in it, promised that the endeavor would honor the legacy of Mahoney and Martin, and it does that in a few ways. Before flying to Boston, Frasier was in Seattle for the funeral of his father, which included a speech from Daphne. The whole service was beautiful, but Freddy missed it. Upon his arrival in Boston, Frasier is greeted by his long-time friend and new Frasier reboot character, Alan Cornwall. The series sees newly divorced psychiatrist Frasier Crane Kelsey Grammer leave behind his old life in Boston and relocate to his hometown of Seattle, Washington. He begins a new career as the host of his own radio call-in show, where he is assisted by his sassy, somewhat promiscuous producer, Roz Doyle Peri Gilpin. Frasier quickly learns from his anal retentive younger brother Niles David Hyde Pierce that their disabled father Martin John Mahoney is no longer able to live alone, and Frasier reluctantly agrees to take him in, along with Martin's favorite recliner and his dog, Eddie Moose. In order to help Martin with his physical therapy, he and Frasier ultimately hire a live-in housekeeper and therapist, Daphne Moon Jane Leeves , a quirky British woman who believes she is psychic. The five quickly form a strange family unit, and Frasier comes to realize that even though his new life may not be what he planned, that does not mean that it is bad. Although the actual episode titles were rarely formally displayed on-screen, each episode had two or three 'title cards', flashed up on a black backdrop during an episode usually at the start of one of the three parts of the original US broadcast.
