When does Fortnite Season 2 start is the question on all players' minds right now, as we're mere days away from the end of the current season in progress. We've had time to get used to the biggest changes brought in with Fortnite Chapter 5 , from Society bosses carrying shield-boosting medallions to a train full of loot circling the island, so we're now ready to move on to the next big update. Admittedly, this is unlikely to be on the same scale as the previous changeover, but you can be sure that Epic have been hard at work developing the next stage in Fortnite so there's bound to be new elements to get stuck into. If you're looking forward and considering what Fortnite Season 2 in Chapter 5 may bring, then here's everything we know about it so far. The Fortnite Season 2 release date hasn't been officially confirmed, but according to the Chapter 5 Season 1 Battle Pass, as seen on the Epic Games website and the in-game message on the Battle Pass screen, we can determine the current Season 1 Battle Pass will end on March 8, at 2am ET. This means that the Fortnite Season 2 start date will most likely also be Friday March 8, following the usual downtime for the transition, and we should receive official confirmation on this very soon. Season 2 of Battle Royale began on December 13, with Patch 1. Thematically, Season 2 was focused on heraldic imagery: the cosmetic item set Fort Knights featured 11 items that debuted during this period. Season 2 also saw the first great map expansion in Patch 2. This offering gave players the ability to pay a reduced fee up-front in order to earn rewards throughout the length of the season, as opposed to earning the ability to purchase items as they were unlocked through reaching Tiers of experience. This inaugural Battle Pass offered 70 tiers of rewards and an additional daily challenge. The Battle Pass for Season 2 was available to purchase for 1, from the Item Shop , although it was also briefly on sale for Challenges during Season 2 were daily in nature, unlike the Weekly or Tier based format that would later be introduced in Season 3. Daily challenges that were left uncompleted did not automatically reset the following day. Those who purchased the Battle Pass had the option of completing a second daily challenge. Various thematic sets including Cosmetic Skins, Harvesting Tools, Emotes and Gliders were also released in Season 2 as part of the item shop components on daily rotation basis and Battle Pass rewards.
