There are 88 regular perks, 8 companion perks, 16 challenge perks, and 18 special perks. Additionally, six of the regular perks can be chosen more than once, such as Intense Training. Only regular perks may be selected during level up. Other types of perks are granted through completing various tasks and do not count against the limit of regular perks.

One of the many great things about the fan-favorite post-apocalyptic RPG Fallout: New Vegas is how it flushed out a lot of the fodder perks from the previous game and replaced them with a boatload of better options to choose from. Ones that offer significantly more beneficial abilities to turn the unnamed Courier into an unstoppable force, whether with words or violence. Some of them are brought over from the previous title, Fallout 3 , while others are either too niche or barely useful at all when it comes to overcoming the many threats of the deserts of New Vegas. It's an oddly-specific one. The effects are too small to have an impact. It all comes from a single item dropped by a single enemy type. Three XP-boosting perks are lumped together here since they, too, are awfully similar. The golden question remains: what happens when players hit level 50? Well, both perks are rendered utterly useless. That can be done in normal indoor beds without the need for a perk anyway. Both of these perks function a bit similarly. A careful player would have no need for either of these, anyway.

One can get up to a total of 25 non-challenge perks with all four DLCs installed. With all DLCs installed there are regular perks. Companion perks, as their name suggests, are granted by one's companions. The perk remains in effect so long as the companion is currently following the player character.

With all of the changes that have been made in modern games, some things have been kept the same up until the most recent installment. Whenever you interact with a campfire , you have the option of sleeping, with all the benefits that sleep brings. PE 7, Lockpick Sadly, this perk is broken.
