The Bite of 87 is an incident which led a human victim losing their frontal lobe due to being attacked during the day by an Animatronic. While the victim lived, the attack proved to be another reputation damaging event for Fazbear Entertainment , and the animatronics from then on had their movements restricted during the day. While this event is not directly mentioned, the game takes place within the same year as the bite, and the Freddy's location would be the only place it could have occurred. Phone Guy mentions that the final event of this Freddy's location is a birthday party, telling Jeremy Fitzgerald to move to the dayshift and attend the party dressed in the uniform to keep an eye on the Toy Animatronics to make sure they don't hurt anyone. The implication seems to be that the Bite occurs at this birthday, with one of the Toys attacking Jeremy, which many speculate to be the Mangle.

So what exactly was The Bite of 87? Most of what we really canonically know comes from Phone Guy , another employee who calls us during the first game to guide us through our shift. Fans have speculated that one of the animatronics, typically from the first game, malfunctioned and accidentally bit the head of a child visiting the pizzeria, causing them to lose their frontal lobe. That said, the pizzeria lets the animatronics roam inside the location at night to keep their gears from locking up which is why you have to watch them on CCTV and try not to get killed. Generally speaking, there is no canon cause for the Bite of 87 or even a canon victim. All we truly know is that someone got bit in the head and they lost their frontal lobe. According to some theories, the victim was Jeremy Fitzgerald, the security guard we meet in FNAF 2 who was bitten by one of the animatronics.

Some of the smallest, most nothingburger moments in "Five Nights at Freddy's" canon have been later revealed as extremely important to the game's bigger picture, which is why it's odd that we've yet to actually see the pivotal event known as the "Bite of ' There are two major "Bites" in "FNaF" lore, one in and another in Before the "Bite of '87," animatronics were permitted to walk around the premises of Freddy Fazbear Pizzerias on their own, a key component to the terror shown throughout the entire game franchise.
