Each section below will view each usable character in the game, examining Class, possible promotional classes, when they are recruitable, and a general information session for that particular character. Beginning as a Lord, Princess Eirika of Renais makes use of swords with a knack for landing critical hits. She comes equipped with a Rapier, which is specially designed to pierce the armored defenses of tougher classes, making her an ideal killer of Knights and armored riders such as Paladins and Great Knights. However, she has fairly low defense and Hit Points totals, so be sure to keep her well protected, as her death will end the game in defeat! As a brother of Eirika, of course Prince Ephraim also begins as a Lord. However, unlike Eirika, he is versed in the use of Lances, coming equipped with the Reginleif, a specially designed lance that can pierce armored defenses easily much like Eirika's Rapier. Not as good at critical hits as his sister, Ephraim is less frail when it comes to battle, so he does not require as much support while fighting. A young knight from Renais, Franz begins as a weak, albeit skilled rider. He makes use of Swords and Lances equally well, so he can handle any situation that occurs in battle, whether fighting in close quarters or even at a distance using a Javelin or Short Spear. Due to his being available from the start of the game means that he can get a lot of training, allowing him to be promoted fairly easily.
