I discovered Farsports three seasons ago when I was trying to shave some weight off my disc brake road bike. In my research, I came across the brand's website and its 30mm deep, 21mm internal width disc wheels with a claimed weight of merely grams. Since the price was right, I jumped at the deal and ordered them up. It was founded in by a small group of passionate cyclists in Xiamen, China. First manufacturings wheels for other brands and then developing its own proprietary wheels, leveraging its scale to sell directly to consumers at lower prices. Unfortunately, there is a dated—and frankly— racist stigma against Chinese manufacturing that exists in cycling circles. Various disparaging terms that get attached to products made there used to imply a lack of quality. In reality, the largest cycling brands in the world manufacture their carbon bicycles, parts, and accessories in China and all over Asia. And some of the best carbon production has been happening there for decades. My personal experience with Farsport products has been nothing but excellent. So when the company reached out about reviewing a set of their latest X4 gravel wheels, I was excited to give them a try. The X4 wheels are part of Farsports' Gravel X series.
