McColm spent two and a half years with Powell riding around the bush, and recalls his first winning ride was at Grafton; coincidentally where Far Too Easy qualified for the Country Championships Final at Randwick in April by winning the Northern Rivers heat. He then moved back to Queensland, and spent another couple of years with trainer Kevin Kedge at Bundamba Ipswich , again riding mainly at bush meetings.

His son of All Too Hard is a million dollar earner and has played a major part on some of Australia's biggest races days with a reputation as one of NSW country's best sprinters. But despite his terrific record and a win in a Country Championships qualifier last year, Far Too Easy has had a string of near misses on the big stage and richly deserves his feature moment. Far Too Easy has placed in multiple stakes races as well as in the past two editions of the Kosciuszko, finishing second and third behind Southern Districts flyer Front Page in each of the past two runnings. There have been a few runs like the Ramornie, his run was outstanding when he drew bad. Far Too Easy comes into The Hunter second up after he had to come from near last in The Kosciuszko before surging home late to finish two and a quarter lengths off Front Page at Royal Randwick. McColm admits his star galloper couldn't have run down the brilliant Kosciuszko winner in the feature country sprint but was rapt with the display, finishing alongside runner up and The Hunter rival Opal Ridge. So bad was the deluge in March , Far Too Easy along with the rest of McColm's horses at his picturesque property found themselves four besser blocks deep in floodwaters, despite the trainer believing he had made the stables high enough to be flood proof. The horse has proven to be resilient, overcoming hurdles for much of his career, but if it wasn't for McColm's son Archie, he may never have landed him at the Magic Millions sale in the first place.
