Not mentioning Russia at all because I saw that the price was way higher But I remember this game starting at The game is quite popular as it is, yet every several months maybe a year I come to check if it's on sale or whatnot, yet I see it being even MORE expensive than last time I feel like every time I click on the store page, the price goes up another 5. Inflation is not hitting the other I've seen every 5. Last edited by Malarkey ; 15 Jan pm. Showing 1 - 15 of 29 comments.
I checked their FAQs and Wiki. Let me preface that with the fact that I actually quite liked several games published by them that's probably the main reason why it pains me they suck so much at publishing because apparently they have a good eye which games to back. Critically-acclaimed base-building hit Factorio is an odd duck. Since its Steam release, the game has never gone on sale. The devs blamed inflation for the sudden price increase, and interestingly enough, the general reaction from the community has been mostly positive. Since its release seven years ago on Steam, Factorio has been a popular game, even though it never, ever goes on sale. You might expect a flood of angry responses from players, but it appears that the devs have done a good job of being transparent with their community, for example by giving them plenty of heads up about the upcoming price change. Factorio has also avoided microtransactions and other exploitative or expensive DLC. The end result is that not only are people fine with this price increase, but many are suggesting the studio offer more ways for players to help financially support the game.
GameSpot may receive revenue from affiliate and advertising partnerships for sharing this content and from purchases through links. The price change "will apply across all platforms," Wube Software confirms. Factorio , the factory base building strategy game from developer Wube Software, is permanently becoming more expensive next week. According to the studio, the decision is to account for inflation. The studio confirmed to GameSpot that the price change "will apply across all platforms," including Nintendo Switch. Ever since, the PC version has remained at said price, except for the occasional sale. But as Wube Software announced today on Twitter, this is an "adjustment to account for the level of inflation the Steam release in ," referring to the year in which early access began. This is an adjustment to account for the level of inflation since the Steam release in The strategy title has received dozens of updates ever since its 1.

After 7 years without a discount, the beloved building game Factorio is getting a price increase to help keep up with inflation. Factorio is unusual among modern video games in that it has never once gone on sale. Steam sales come and go, but Factorio's price remains a rock, and the game's store page eternally notes that the devs "don't have any plans to take part in a sale or to reduce the price for the foreseeable future. The devs have explained the reasoning behind their 'no sale' policy numerous times over the years, perhaps most succinctly in a forum post : "It isn't about visibility or sales, it's about respecting the players who have already purchased the game. We don't want to reward the people who hold off on buying the game, the game is a price we find reasonable, and this is the deal. If you think it is priced too high, then it is your choice to not purchase, and we hope that with enough time, and extra development, we will be able to convince you of its value. Inflation has already been affecting game prices, albeit in less direct ways.

We have plans for more updates and to support the game beyond This basically means that purchasing before the 16th of April is the only way to buy the game cheaper than the increased release price.
Factorio has never followed the pack when it comes to pricing: It's also notable for a message on its Steam page which informs prospective players that the developer doesn't intend to discount the game anytime soon. Back in , the company explained that the no sales policy is "about respecting the players who have already purchased the game" by not rewarding those who wait with discounts.
Sounds legit :D I'd totally go for it. My comment is more about your "jab". If, however, you happen to have missed the prior multi-dozen threads, and happen to be simply curious, the stated reason was "This is an adjustment to account for the level of inflation since the Steam release in I have a rather old PC so most games run better on console. I can only remember Pillars of Eternity at the moment and I'm pretty sure I'll get my money's worth out of it when the time comes, although I've already received two additional copies as part of bundles if I remember correctly. How ever did you manage to conflate unwillingness to spend a certain amount of money on an arbitrary product with greed? Store Page.
