Ask most viewers of the hit sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond , and they're likely to point to Ray's father Frank as one of the show's funnier, more colorful characters. His "no holds barred" bluntness, rudeness, and witty sense of humor sets the stage for some funny moments and great zingers in the show. He's something of a paradox, as well. He can be harsh and cold, but also subtly supportive and caring. He exudes a macho, tough-guy image, but has a bit of a soft, sensitive spot too. While in Frank and Marie 's basement, Ray and Robert find their old ping pong table. They begin to remember the days when they played against their father when they were young. Ray was so happy that he had finally beat Frank at the game. Then he found out that Frank let him win all those years ago. Furious that his father lied to him, Ray wanted a rematch.
