After that, it changes its status to "unavailable" every 5 minutes. The device is always reliably responsive via HomeKit, in HA unfortunately only the first 5 minutes after that it remains unavailable. Matter, the promised home automation wiz kid, is here and some devices are now shipping with native Matter support. But what if you want Home Assistant and Apple Homekit to control the same matter device? No problem! This post will show you exactly how to provision the Eve Energy smart plug to Apple Homekit, then pair it to Home Assistant. The public Matter spec was released in November , and just now are devices shipping with Matter firmware. Eve is one of the first to market manufacturers to sell devices that ship in the box with Matter firmware. Matter is entirely software, and has absolutely nothing to do with physical data transmission protocols like Thread, WiFi or Zigbee. It is an application layer protocol. However, Matter can leverage select physical transmission protocols: ethernet, WiFi, Thread, and Bluetooth. Notice the lack of Zigbee and Z-wave. Matter lets a device talk to Apple, Google, Amazon and other smart hubs without needing to be specifically certified for each ecosystem, and multiple ecosystems can simultaneously control a matter device. So a manufacturer like Eve can just certify a device to the Matter spec, and skip the Apple, Google, and Amazon certifications or software stacks. It should just work with all of them out of the box.
I am new to HA so I dont know how and where to trouble shoot.
Remember SkyConnect is ZigBee. Eve Energy is Bluetooth. So you have to have Bluetooth on the Hardware which runs Home Assistant. I am using a Raspberry Pi 3b which has bluetooth. I installed the beta firmware to my Eve Energy Outlet. Here is the log output when trying to add the device. I am adding it using the pairing mode option in Apple Homekit.
This thing can measure power consumption. Is it by any chance possible to read out the measurements i supect not directly, as it uses thread and BT to communicate? Perhaps via an api or something? I do see the actual measurements as well as a history in the eve app, so me thinks, the data has to be stored somewhere…. Have you gotten any further with this? Do you have the smart plug working at all in Home Assistant? No news here so far. At the moment it seems, that this data is only collected within the eve energy and then also only accessible via the EVE app and an established direct connection not working in Apple HOME. But we will see… Fingers crossed. Yeah I actually contacted them and asked them exactly that.

By Jennifer Pattison Tuohy , a smart home reporter who's been testing connected gadgets since If you buy something from a Verge link, Vox Media may earn a commission. See our ethics statement. Well, three of each, but still — progress. So, after three years of reporting on the development of the new interoperability standard designed to make the smart home easier to use , I finally got my hands on Matter-enabled gadgets to test. The good news is I got all three devices to work with all three platforms. The bad news is it was anything but simple to get there and involved jumping back and forth between a Google Pixel and iPhone It's not currently possible to do without both. I could use each voice assistant — Google, Siri, and Bixby — to control the devices. I set up basic routines and automations on each platform — using both Matter and non-Matter devices.

However, Thread can be used without Matter. Schlichi83 Schlichi83 November 5, , am Already on GitHub? Have you gotten any further with this? Schlichi83 Schlichi83 November 22, , am Thread skyconnect doesn't work. If all goes well, the secondary ecosystem will discover the new device and pair it. I have the same issue as OP. The W problem solved for me too. Hi All! AndrewJSmith76 Andrew September 26, , am
I am struggling to get my Eve products integrated in Home Assistant. There are multiple posts on this subject, but most are up to a few years old already.
This would also take the zigbee network outside of the Wi-Fi channels. Poorpilot April 22, , am That is until I bought the latest generate of Eve Motion sensor. You signed out in another tab or window. All communications is local. You just need to wait some time until the values are correcting themselves. The second screenshot shows yet other entities of the same device, which I had renamed in the UI. Luckily when re-pairing devices they mostly retained their names. Or maybe using an ESP32 as bluetooth proxy via esphome? Seems to have rectified itself somehow. The device was still available and useable in HomeKit while simultaneously being unavailable in HA. That way they use Thread to talk to each other. It most certainly will NOT.
