MRS is a unique non-invasive method available on MRI scanners to sample the chemistry of the CNS in people actually living with a certain disease or condition. Using state of the art MRS methodology we can detect 16 to 20 different metabolites depending on region of interest that can serve as biomarkers of neuron-myelin coupling, mitochondrial function, neurotransmission, and inflammation. I have previously applied MRS to demonstrate changes in neurotransmission in progressive multiple sclerosis MS , as well as improvements in inflammatory markers in MS patients enrolled in a clinical trial of a novel treatment. I have also used MRS to investigate changes in the brain with age, in bipolar disorder, and in cases of progressive solitary sclerosis. My current research projects include tracking changes in more MRS metabolites over time in a cohort of MS patients receiving a new treatment, measuring neurotransmitter levels during treatment in the MRI bore with transcranial magnetic stimulation, and measuring neurotransmitter levels during functional activation in healthy controls. Her early research projects included analyzing magnetic resonance spectroscopy data from in vivo brain studies and performing myelin water imaging measurements in the healthy human spinal cord. She then pursued a PhD in Biomedical Science at the University of Bern, in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, working on advanced acquisition techniques for magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Erin is now a post-doctoral research fellow in the Division of Neurology, Faculty of Medicine, at UBC, applying her technical expertise to magnetic resonance spectroscopy studies of multiple sclerosis brain. Anonymous porn "star" Eric Whittaker, from the sleazy, Scottsdale-based website Backroom Casting Couch, is apparently pretty hard up for talent now that his top recruiter, Antonio Gonzalez, is up on kiddie-porn charges. According to one former model, she's never seen Whittaker resort to Craigslist to recruit "talent. Normally, Whittaker uses Gonzalez's modeling agencies, Mayflower Modeling and Photos by Gonzo, to recruit young girls to appear in his faux-reality porn flicks. But with "Gonzo" currently facing six counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, three counts of sexual conduct with a minor, and one count of furnishing obscene materials to a minor, his porn recruiting days may be over. According to court documents obtained by New Times , in April of , Gonzalez invited a year-old girl to his house at South Grandview Drive in Tempe to pose for photographs she could use in a portfolio. During the shoot, Gonzalez tried to pull the girl's skirt down and asked her take some nude photos. The girl declined, but that didn't stop "Gonzo. She again told him she wasn't interested in nude photos, which Gonzalez must have interpreted as "I want to touch your penis" because that's what happened next.
