Elemental , at its core, is about Ember played by Leah Lewis , a fire elemental whose family immigrated after a storm in their old country to a big city in a new land, which is predominantly inhabited by Water, Air, and Earth elementals. It's clear this city wasn't inherently built with fire folk in mind. With her father opening a fire elemental general goods store, they slowly build a neighborhood of other fire folk who moved to the city.
