Having spent almost 4 years living in British Columbia , the Canadian province which is world famous for its iconic scenery, vast mountain ranges, endless hiking and clear blue lakes, I discovered how magical it is to go to sleep and wake up again surrounded entirely by nature. Camping in woodland is a very Canadian thing to do but this is East Sussex.

Beech Estate Campsite is most definitely the latter — no electricity, no mobile phone signal and a wheelbarrow for weaving your gear through the trees to the tent. If that all sounds like too much effort, then you may want to move on in search of something more suitable. The Beech Estate site is the larger of the two. Tent pitches here are nestled among the trees or spread out in individual clearings and private spaces. The woods of the estate spread, in total, across some 2, acres. The forest is all yours. There are also eight wild-glamping bell tents, each with its own separate clearing, which come complete with beds, chairs, a picnic table, cookware, a firepit, logs and an eco cooking stove. Beech Estate lies right in the heart of East Sussex and is excellently situated to drive to many of the regions top attractions. The historic town of Battle , and all that is just three miles away. Cosmopolitan Hastings, home to the largest beach-launched fishing fleet in Europe, is also a short-drive away. A few miles down the A, you'll find the historic village of Herstmonceux. Besides its historic windmill, visitors flock the Observatory Science Centre and the Tudour opulence of Hertmonceux Castle. If you're planning a day trip further afield, the stunning Seven Sisters Country Park is well worth a visit. Its chalk cliffs and lush, rolling hills are the quintessential Sussex scene and nearby Eastbourne has buckets of timeless seaside charm. The White Hart Inn in Netherfield serves up classy pub grub in a truly beautiful location.

Set within the edge of a beautiful acre woodland near Battle in East Sussex, our off-grid campsite offers wild glamping and real camping among the trees from April to October. Our campsite pitches are scattered within the forest. We are an off-grid family campsite with a back to nature philosophy — no amplified music or pets allowed. Just wanted to thank you for a wonderful weekend at the faraway pitch on Beech Estate. It truly is a happy place for us. All the COVID measures and the fresh air made it feel completely safe and allowed us to enjoy a weekend of normalcy. We just wanted to express how much we loved our stay at Beech Estate Campsite.

These days my feelings about camping are very, very different. Recommend to all campers! Stayed three nights solo to celebrate my birthday, had a perfect stay. We stayed in the faraway pitch and it felt like we were wild camping - it was fantastic. The other major plus for those seeking genuine tranquility from their camping trip is that no cars are allowed into the site beyond the car park — you transport all of your stuff to your pitch using multi coloured wheelbarrows. Live locally or just a fan? The bucket showers are really cool — and clean. Next to my site of F1 I spotted another site numbered P16 — this is very slightly raised up and unlike many of the other spots had its own picnic table at the time of my visit.
