We were invited along to East River, one of the best restaurants on Allerton Road Liverpool, as it reopens following lockdown. To help with the brand new menu launch, we were asked to sample some of the main dishes on offer and give our honest review of the food. We sampled three cocktails from the menu, but my two favourite were;. Electric Kool Aid — with tanqueray, cherry and pomegranate soda, citric acid and electric foam. Red Velvet Ramos — tanqueray, strawberry, citrus, whites, cream, soda and rose water. There are options to suit most dietary requirement, however as meat lovers, we opted for mostly meaty dishes. Lamb and Aubergine Lasagne — Minced lamb lasange with baked aubergine, melted mozzarella, feta and parsley. This dish was my absolute favourite, the lasagne is just out of this world, we even asked the chef for the recipe to recreate at home. Sea Bass — Pan-fried sea bass fillet, with beetroot and yogurt sauce and picked veg. The fish was cooked to perfection, but I really loved the picked veggies and the beetroot dip. Short Ribs — 2 x 10 oz slow cooked short ribs, rubbed in a paprika and garlic spice mix with a spicy BBQ sauce and homemade healthy slaw. Chicken Schnitzel — butterfly chicken schnitzel, with caper butter sauce and tender stem broccoli. The green sauce on the top was delightful, if you like gherkins then you will love this dish.
