Unfortunately what I found was a bit of a confusing jumble. Through flashbacks you are shown that Stephen was once a talented and high-profile surgeon but a car crash destroys his hands and leaves him unable to continue his work. Therein lies a really interesting back story that I would have loved to have seen explored, but you are only given brief glimpses which makes it hard to identify with the good doctor. After this brief introduction the novel begins moving at a rate of knots. The villain is introduced almost immediately, without any motivations beyond being evil for the sake of it.

Home About Me. The fact that there are so many superhero stories from films, television, etc. UPC:
Radical perpetual change — or at least the appearance of such — is the irresistible force driving modern comics. One could argue that for characters or concepts with a fifty year pedigree, all that history can be a readership-daunting deterrence, so radical reboots are a painful but vital periodic necessity. When a self-inflicted drunken car-crash mangled his hands and ended his career, the arrogant Strange hit the skids, big time. Fallen as low as man ever could, the debased doctor overhears a barroom tale which leads to a delirious odyssey — or perhaps pilgrimage — to Tibet. There an impossibly aged mage and enlightenment through daily redemption transforms the derelict into the solitary, ever-vigilant watchdog for frail humanity against all the hidden dangers of the dark.
Doctor Strange: Season One. By Joey Esposito. The broad strokes are the same as the early Doctor Strange adventures, but writer Greg Pak manages to weave in one very important element that really makes this book as successful as it is: the relationship between Strange and Wong. In Season One, Pak reconfigures Wong to be a peer of Strange — even superior, in some ways — and the result is the foundation of a relationship that plays off some classic buddy cop tropes to construct their friendship in a whole new light. Pak has them diametrically opposed at first — Strange a self-centered surgeon looking to gain power only to heal himself while Wong is a loyal student of the Ancient One, devoted to learning the craft and respecting the heritage.
