They say that necessity is the mother of invention and I needed a door. I had some lumber and some tools and so I put together a plan and I built one. This article is all about how I did that including the steps that I went through and the challenges that I had to solve for along the way. They decided on walnut for the material and a herringbone type pattern for the barn door. The barn door was going to measure about 8 feet tall and about 42 inches wide. The door was also going to be a sliding barn door style so I was going to simple, flat black, barn door hardware to hang the barn door.
