These trips will last up to three hours and are designed to give people an experince of watching wildlife at sea on a shorter trip. The Yorkshire coast, once famous for its whaling fleet which sailed from Whitby is now becoming famous for its whale watching! In late summer Minke Whales appear, following the Mackerel shoals, these fantastic mammals are the most regularly seen large cetacean on our coast, watch the YCN video below from some up close whale action! Harbour Porpoise are with us throughout the year and seen on most of our trips. Bottle-nosed Dolphins are now being seen all year round on the coast in increasing numbers. In we will run our shorter trips from Staithes again with Sean Baxter as our skipper with 3 hours at sea.

The first boat, Dolphin I, was launched on 23 February On the 21 August Parkstone Rotary Club handed the project over to the Trustees of the newly formed Friends of Dolphin Charity and it has remained as a self supporting charity ever since. Our first boat, Dolphin I was replaced by Dolphin II in , and both these boats were flat bottomed with a bow loading ramp which made them ideal for embarking wheelchairs from a slipway. All three of our Dolphin boats were specially adapted to carry disabled people of all ages and disabilities, particularly those in Wheelchairs or with physical disabilities. It is a reflection of many years hard work by hundreds of our volunteers who have brought happiness to our disabled passengers. In September he kindly came at our request to present a certificate and flowers to our 50,th passenger, Mrs Romany Moss, see pictures below another major milestone in the History of our Charity.
