Divinity original sin 2 vs baldurs gate 3
However, there's been a bit of a trend—as TheGamer noted last week, there've been some instances of players getting the CRPG bug from Baldur's Gate 3, turning to Divinity: Original Sin 2, and getting flattened. As one user shadownn02 writes on the Divinity Original Sin Reddit : "Is this game supposed to be super hard? What are we missing? My immediate response to this was 'hold on, DoS2 had its moments, but I don't remember it being that much harder. Maybe I'd just blocked the teleporting crocodiles out of my mind. So I decided to boot up a new save for the first time in years, and I immediately began to see the problem. DoS2 isn't harder than Baldur's Gate 3: its first act is just way less structured, and does a poorer job of easing you into the game. It's not bad, by any means—there's something to be said for the open, immersive-sim nature of Fort Joy. It's just far more aimless. The fascinating thing is: they're largely the same. Both acts spit you out on a beach after your vessel crashes, both have you picking up fellow survivors as you take your first steps into their vast worlds. But while Baldur's Gate 3 clearly signposts the way forward, DoS2 hides a bunch of rakes in some tall grass and tells you to go hog wild. What's more, those rakes just aren't in how the act's designed—they're hidden in how the game's combat mechanics interact with each other, too.
I've also heard that BG3 has a very streamlined, propulsive beginning, and I guess that must help too.
While the idea of Baldur's Gate 3 opening up its gameplay mechanics to pave the way for fun plays can remind players of Divinity: Original Sin 2, the Baldur's Gate sequel seems to be able to pull off a more cohesive experience compared to Larian Studios' previous release. Among improvements Baldur's Gate 3 implemented past Original Sin 2 include more grounded romance, attaching values to respec opportunities, and more rules-inclined min-maxing opportunities. Necromancy can be accessed through the Necromancer Skills in Divinity: Original Sin 2 gameplay, giving players access to abilities that leech life off opponents. Moreover, the option to use corpses in a myriad of ways and even create multiple minions at a time makes Necromancy a vast improvement in BG3. Both games feature Default Origins consisting of Companion options with their own story within the core narrative, allowing players to pursue their routes as the main character or a side character to a personalized Custom Origin. At first glance, the Dark Urge seems like a Custom Origin but leaning towards an evil playthrough.
They do have their differences, but there is a lot of crossover. But there must be a winner. However, Divinity: Original Sin 2 is different in that you have a lot more action points to spend during a given turn. If a player casts a fireball on oil, the ground will erupt in flames. Then, a character can cast a rain storm to dowse the flames, but a fog cloud remains which lowers the visibility of the characters inside it. And, a character can cast a lightning spell and electrocute the entire fog cloud and everyone inside it. Instead, you get a really healthy balance of melee, range, magic, and situational moments. You go on adventures in an open world, talk to people, try to choose the outcomes you want, take on side quests, and work toward figuring out the big overarching narrative. But, honestly, I love both games and would highly recommend them both. Divinity Original Sin 2: Which is Better?

EtcetEra Hangouts. Side Quest. Conversations in DOS 2 feel complex and chaotic the way real life conversations feel. I think Baldur's Gate 3 works for a wide audience new to CRPGs because it grounds and immerses them in its world and story with fantastic characters who feel real and behave in a lifelike manner. Overlap these three circles of pain: armour, death, and books, and you get DoS2's first act. MrBiryani 6 months ago 8. HBK said:. And there's plenty of other stuff too. Moreover, the option to use corpses in a myriad of ways and even create multiple minions at a time makes Necromancy a vast improvement in BG3. This means that if you chose poorly on character creation, you're screwed. This also puts importance to the number of playable characters versus the ones players can actually place as Companions, as some of them may serve as templates for specific roles. Both games boast interactive environments, with spells and other interactive elements constantly creating surfaces and background effects that can affect combat. The story was dumb in DoS2.
