The flavoursome curries that are flavoured robustly, are often eaten as accompaniments to a variety of breads or rice. However, what makes each of them distinct from one another? Both, the misal and usal, are popular staple curries in the state of Maharashtra.

Dahi Misal is another type of misal where beaten yogurt is topped on the misal before serving. There is a difference between Usal and Misal. Usal is a curried dish made with sprouted legumes or mixed sprouts. The main ingredient is Goda Masala that gives authentic taste to the Usal. Goda masala is the base for most Maharashtrian dishes. Goda masala is spiced powder , which is made of whole garam masala spices and dried coconut. It can be prepared well in advance and stored in air-tight containers.
