They're still selling smoked barbecue meats at two locations — one in Oro Valley and the other near midtown on East 22nd Street — but the owner of Jackson's plans to change culinary directions to country comfort food. This is the only Tucson area location left of Dickey's Barbecue Pit. Two locations of Dickey's Barbecue Pit on opposite ends of Tucson will soon be serving fried chicken and chicken-fried steak alongside its pulled pork sandwiches. Owner Dave Wirth last week rechristened as Jackson's his nearly three-year-old northwest side Dickeys at N. Wirth said the name will eventually be Jackson's Country Kitchen, but for now it's just Jackson's. Wirth said he plans to eventually expand the menu to include such country comfort classics as fried chicken once he retrofits the barbecue-centric kitchens. Right now, most of the menu is focused on barbecue including pulled pork sandwiches, ribs, smoked sausages and brisket.
