Click here for more information about Dhalsim's other fighting game appearances. Dhalsim is the original long-range fighter of fighting games. Dhalsim's intense training has given him the ability to contort and extend his limbs into forms physically impossible in real life; he can project his arms, legs, chest and neck outward in order to deliver attacks that would be out of the range of normal limbs. Dhalsim's fighting style involves keeping the opponent at bay with distance attacks and projectiles, and optimally, only getting close to strike with a surprise aerial attack or sliding kick. Due to his reach advantage, Dhalsim has both very low offense and defense, making it vital for him to avoid sustaining too many blows from a strong fighter. Dhalsim's sprite, while standing, is actually quite a small target, due to the total number of pixels Dhalsim's sprite occupies while not attacking. Dhalsim becomes a much larger target while attacking. Dhalsim is often depicted as having pupil-less eyes. His build is that of a normal man who exercises and weight trains regularly except for his abdomen and waist which appear much out of proportion and emaciated. He wears torn saffron shorts as his only clothing attire as well as saffron wristbands and anklebands. He has three coloured stripes adorning his head. The skulls he wears around his neck are those of village children that died during a plague. In palette swap renditions of Dhalsim, his skin is often dark blue or other unnatural colors.
MK keeps Dhalsim in as much as possible.
Dhalsim cannot be played at a competitive level if you don't know all of his anti-air options in every match. He requires really strenuous training that you have to do in order to net consistent wins. If you don't do it, you'll get crushed without a doubt. Sim is not a common top tier character. You can't just learn two or three cheap tricks and go for cheesy wins. Of course, Sim can be very cheesy, but you won't win consistently relying on it. You have to learn, you have to meditate, and then destroy.
He's great defensively, has some pretty good offensive tactics and a strong throwing game. In short, he has tools to deal with almost every situation and character, and he only has trouble with a few. The combination of his Light Punch Yoga Flames and pokes attacks give him a top notch defensive game where he can slowly whittle away your life. And he can use his Light Kick Slide into a throw to get you off of him when he needs a bit of breathing room. He can also apply offensive pressure with his Air Drills, close range pokes and throws. And he has multiple ways of countering projectiles. If you time it well — it makes it very difficult to counter, depending on the character you're fighting against.

Some characters can dodge this very well like Chun Li or Blanka, though. Neutral Jump Heavy Punch. If he should jump from far to hit you do a back. Mostly outclassed by far crouch mp, but this does less pushback, so can be ok if you need them at a specific range. MP, as this has the same damage, hit and blockstun, and pushback but worse framedata. If you are about mid screen and he goes off the wall, jump back rh or jump straight up and close strong work excellent. I should probably just remove this section tbh. Blanka O. If you knock him down in the corner, with the proper spacing you can keep doing jab yoga flames on him, over and over. This may stun, but if it does not, then you reset to neutral with the knowledge that your next hit will. When he eventually starts coming of the wall you can either 1- jump back and roundhouse him out of the air good only at a distance 2- simply stand your ground and use the jab punch best if he is going for the slam 3- if you have little time slide, you can still be sliced but most likely not slammed. Unsafe on whiff, but Dhalsim's highest range normal and has great punishing power against moves that push back a lot like Cammy's super or Blanka balls.
