My dad accidentally backed over my foot when I was getting out of the car, but I was wearing these and did not feel a thing, nor was there so much as a scratch on the leather. Took a week or so to break in with a little blistering around my heel, but that is pretty standard for Docs. My only criticism would be that they are quite heavy to wear - not advisable if you like to go about your day with stealth.
