Posted: Jan 2, pm. Really sorry this trick is so old but just stumbled across it on YouTube. It's the one where Derren Brown is performing a small packet card effect with Stephen Merchant, He has two cards that have the words Yes and No on them. It's the usual stunt of spectator trying to guess which card is on the table or held by Derren. I've seen people are commenting that the trick is from one of Derren's books, which I'm happy to buy just for this trick However, being a card and sleights person I'm hoping that's what this is and NOT one of those reading the spectators mind, body language, eyes etc

Pop stars, politicians, princes all seem to have the same job these days — podcast interviewer. But while these pods are great for brand-building and soft power, are they damaging the industry at large? The biggest tech companies in the world — Amazon, Spotify, Apple — are desperate to have a library of hit podcasts and are willing to stump up for anything that seems like a proven winner. But it is not just the fees that have transformed. When podcasting first began, most of the shows were either the endeavours of solo hobbyists or repackaged public radio shows. Quickly the format exploded as a way to deliver deeply reported news or investigations, and for comedians to riff off each other. But in podcasts are becoming increasingly dominated by one format: the celebrity-on-celebrity interview. An entertaining, longform audio interview is hardly a new idea. Its origins can be traced back to , when the first episode of Desert Island Discs was broadcast on the BBC Forces Programme, a service aimed at keeping up the morale of British soldiers stationed in France. Both shows are warm yet combative, relentlessly researched interview shows — public radio in excelsis. And that was about it until when Marc Maron, an LA-based standup who had alienated much of the local comedy scene with his belligerent style, plugged in a couple of microphones in his garage and started interviewing his friends. The first episodes were having celebrities over to talk about my problems and me apologising to people.
