Derbyshire bus changes

From Sunday, October 29, Stagecoach is set to make a number of changes to its buses services Chesterfield and Derbyshire. The frequency of some routes has been increased and some routes have been extended, providing new links. Monday to Saturday daytime buses will be extended across Chesterfield to serve Green Farm, using the current 2a route. Buses will run hourly. On Sundays, the 5 will continue to run between Chesterfield and Newbold only. On Monday to Saturday daytimes, buses will run every 30 minutes instead of every hour, with more early morning journeys introduced. Sunday daytime journeys are introduced, replacing the 25a. The bus routes have been modified keeping in mind the change in the commuting pattern of passengers throughout the pandemic. The organisation will be focusing more on operating buses on feeder routes. The buses will be operated mostly from suburban railway stations connecting other nearby areas. The organisation has stated that the new routes will improve frequency. With the new routes, BEST is also expecting to increase its passengers as the organisation would introduce mini buses on feeder routes outside suburban railway stations.

Campaigners in Derbyshire are calling for a regular, reliable, affordable, zero-emission bus services in every village and town in the county. They called for "adequate funding to make public transport the most attractive option". The government said money saved on scrapping HS2 North would be diverted to Derbyshire for transport.
