David Paulides is a former police officer who is now an investigator and writer known primarily for his self-published books dedicated to proving the reality of Bigfoot , and establishing the Missing conspiracy theory. Missing is a series of books and films, which document cases of people who have gone missing in national parks and elsewhere, and assert that these cases are unusual and mysterious, contrary to data analysis which suggests that they are not actually statistically mysterious or even unexpected. Paulides has Greek ancestry. After leaving the police force, Paulides wrote books on the topic of Bigfoot, as well as on the disappearances of people in national parks and elsewhere which he attributes to unspecified, unknown causes. In his pursuit of Bigfoot , Paulides has self-published two Bigfoot-related books and founded the group North America Bigfoot Search, [6] [7] for which he serves as director. Paulides has said North America Bigfoot Search was instrumental in the genesis of a paper published in , which claimed that Bigfoot was real: "The world needs to understand that North America Bigfoot Search was the organizer of the study. We orchestrated the search that led to picking Melba S. Ketchum to conduct a study of bigfoot DNA. Hill's report concluded that the paper was of poor quality, stating that "The few experienced geneticists who viewed the paper reported a dismal opinion of it, noting it made little sense. The Scientist magazine also analyzed the paper, reporting that the analyses and data fail to support the claims of existence of a human-primate hybrid, but rather, "analyses either come back as percent human, or fail in ways that suggest technical artifacts. Following his work on Bigfoot, Paulides' next project was Missing , a series of self-published books and two documentary films, documenting unsolved cases of people who have gone missing in national parks and elsewhere. According to Paulides, his work on this subject began when he was doing research in a national park and an off-duty park ranger found him and expressed concern about the questionable nature of some of the missing person cases which occurred in the parks.

Missing North America. One man's research shows that for more than a century, people have been disappearing under mysterious circumstances across North America. Now, author David Paulides brings some of these cases, previously recounted in his series of books, to living rooms in the form of his Missing documentary. Made with the help of his son, Benjamin, they profile five separate, mysterious incidents involving children. When a person goes missing there is a search effort to locate them. But national parks and even forests can make such searches difficult.
Hosted by George Noory. Investigator David Paulides has focused his attention for the last ten years on the compelling evidence that there is an unusual set of circumstances for many of the missing that vanish in the wilderness. In the first half, he shared his newest research into mysterious disappearances in Washington state and elsewhere and the odd details that surround these vanishings. Paulides said he has compiled various "profile points" around the cases that come up repeatedly, though they don't apply to every case. These include weather events at the time of the disappearance, missing clothes or shoes, many of the disappeared have an illness or disability that isn't obvious, and a "point of separation" where the person is out of sight or goes a different way. Among those that are found alive, they typically don't remember how they went missing or what happened, and if they are found dead, it's generally in or adjacent to a body of water. He detailed a case when two experienced and well-equipped mountain climbers, Chris Hartonas and Raymond Vakili, disappeared near Camp Muir on Mount Rainier. Helicopters and canines were used in the initial day search, but nothing was found. Paulides found this remark from the National Park Service rather sobering: "This is the fourth serious incident on the Muir snowfield in
