Compared to dark souls 1. So i just beat dark souls again and finally platinized it. And it clicked, the main reason ds2 falls flat. I've always known the world design in ds2 was bad but i never pinpointed why it sucked. But after my billionth play through I finally got it. In dark souls 1 you are a small speck in an unbelievably large world that existed millennia before you did. You are but a simple passenger in something much greater than you can conceive. Walking on archways, going threw broken windows, balancing on thin walkways.
It's just an implicit attitude for which you're not conscious of. Wish I could play it. Oct 28,

Dark souls 2 sucks

Below, we look back at how the unexpected sequel broke with traditions to stand as one of the most unusual Soulsbornes from the studio that created the genre. Dark Souls 2 has, since shortly after release, been an odd duck in the franchise. Bloodborne, which came out the following year, stole its thunder though it is hard to argue unfairly. By the time Dark Souls 3 rolled around, its predecessor's reception had distinctly cooled. It often, though not always, fills out the bottom of "Every Souls Game Ranked" lists. However, if you push past your assumptions of what a Souls game must be, Dark Souls 2 offers an elegiac and illogical sense of place, in contrast to the tightly constructed ruins of other FromSoft games. Dark Souls 2's plentiful pleasures derive from the ways it is most distinct from its predecessors. To talk about those pleasures, it is best to start at the beginning. All of the Souls games plus Elden Ring start with a cinematic that sets the stakes.

Finally, I have to admit that in contrast to your martyrdom, I found the Iron Keep area quite alright to play through for the most part with little to no bug-related issue occurancies. You see that as you progress throughout DkS, the various consumable souls you find become more and more impressive — in the burg, it's typically some random lost undead, but later in Anor Londo, it's the great soul of a hero, or some such; but they're all still random dead once-human guys, right? Bulebule Member. Best chime and staff for hexes? Another thing that requires some knowledge of ds1 is Nashandra since her soul and her weapons suggests that she is simply the smallest fragment of the old one of the abyss. Having said that, the covenants still aren't quite as good as they really should be. In Dark Souls II , you just kind of stumble into boss fights haphazardly. I've always known the world design in ds2 was bad but i never pinpointed why it sucked. But I can totally see why others wouldn't like it.
After i beat Sekiro about a week ago, I suddenly wanted to some other souls games and choosed to try Ds2. I didn't played too much earlier cause it wasn't my fav game in the franchise but it was still okay.
Cool review. I've always known the world design in ds2 was bad but i never pinpointed why it sucked. It's just an all-around terrible design. This just means you don't know what you enjoyed the most. First of all they put 2 almost identical factions into the game. It was my 1st entry to the series. HF Member. There were basically two groups of people in the PVP scene of the previous games: people who wanted to cap themselves at a certain level for balanced PVP builds, and people who wanted to keep leveling. Continuing in a 3rd post. Pieces of terrain that inexplicably explode in your face when hit? Dark Souls II continues this tradition of nerfing the player's toolset and abilities -- and takes it to an all-new extreme. Heide's Tower, for instance, is literally a single path to the boss fight with six armored giants along the way, and one single deviation in the path that leads to another boss fight. DS2 for sure feels the most "off" of any of the games. They sort of force you to use their fancy new gameplay mechanism, and then punish you for using it, while inevitably making it worthless, anyway. Hitting eachother at the same time was a thing in Ds1, too.
I apologise, but, in my opinion, you are mistaken. Let's discuss it. Write to me in PM, we will talk.
