I previously owned a craftsman saw that had the tabletop made out of aluminium. Frequently when I would feed plywood into the table it would tip the whole saw. Before I go any further though I have to say I have a weird myopic bias for and against Craftsman tools. I believe that Craftsman makes the worlds best hand tools. No one beats them, and the warranty they provide. Power tools on the other hand are a different story.

This is a very popular contractor saw from Craftsman and when you see what you are getting for your money its easy to see why. As with all table saws there are some features that people absolutely love, and some, not so much. The weight of this saw may will appeal to a many woodworkers where portability is not an issue but the extra stability and accuracy that comes with heavy cast iron tables is high on the list. If space is limited in your workshop and need the ability to move the table saw. Its deployed by pressing a foot lever which drops and locks the the wheels allowing for the saw to be moved.

Send Cancel. Cheers, Brad. My saw operated fine right out of the box and the blade height adjustment was never an issue. This saw for the money and performance was a perfect balance for what I need. So pretty much any saw with a real belt driven induction motor is a step up IMHO. I don't know how much of an argument I could make about the fence - I could say the fence it comes with is crappy and I'd be replacing it but that's more of my problem than theirs. I don't mind holding onto the Dewalt as it should meet my needs for the foreseeable future but if I can find something used for cheaper that will do the job well or better before I unbox the Dewalt I'll jump on it. It's maybe a 1 - 1. I'm not really any good at metal fabrication so building my own knife is possible but I dont know where I would start. It would be really good with a fence upgrade. Overall I really like the saw! Where can I look for too tight bolts or something to adjust?

Designed with both professionals and DIY enthusiasts in mind, this saw is a standout in terms of power, precision, and portability. Using the Craftsman table saw has been a game changer for me. Its ability to combine power and precision in a portable format is exactly what I need for my varied woodworking projects.

I think the two most important parts for me are: 1. Learn how your comment data is processed. What I really want is something to perform precision cuts on various hardwoods without worrying about it not being able to keep up or burning the wood. So pretty much any saw with a real belt driven induction motor is a step up IMHO. Not sure why that is happening. I plan to use my router but it is a good basis for comparison of power I think no? Why is he selling? Being that I'm not real familiar with them I wouldn't know what to look for as far as the unit being in good shape beyond it simply appearing to be in good shape. I had to adjust the rails numerous times. Where the saw falls short is the fence. My saw operated fine right out of the box and the blade height adjustment was never an issue. The blade guard splitter is very thin although it does have anti-kickback pawls. I'm not sure what that means. Frequently when I would feed plywood into the table it would tip the whole saw.
