If this was before your Gen Z time, the premise was an excitable Aristos would corner shoppers in the supermarket, offering to cook them dinner using only the trolley and pantry ingredients in their home. Reading the menu at Coogee Common randomly had me reminiscing about this show, only instead of an eclectic array of produce to play with, its chefs have access to possibly the best pantry in Perth. This restaurant has sqm of kitchen gardens in its massive historic grounds; a lush edible forest of produce and beehives that influences what diners will be nibbling on that week. There were different textures and colours at play on the plate, but pieced together its flavours fell a little flat and were underwhelming. Every bite was slightly different and delicious, depending on what herb or nut was on the fork.
