The Chevy , with tall pistons and a heavy crank, is also one of the oldest blocks Chevrolet has made for its pickup trucks. Now, this big engine has gained a lot of opinions from engine builders. The recommendations differ on whether installing it as a whole with its still working components would be worth the effort or whether it would be wiser to empty the whole block and fill it with better components. If you still have no idea, this block can help your truck carry the heavier weight you can imagine.

Did they put a short deck distributor in a tall deck motor? Someone here will know way more than I do about that, but the truck engines took a longer distributor. A short one wouldn't engage the oil pump drive. At least that is how I understand it. Someone set me straight. Yep, exactly my thoughts when I read this.

Those trucks had somewhat wheezy wiring to begin with When the truck is running it smokes blue smoke and it doesn't start right. The only way to know is to remove the pan, an look at each bearing little difficult to get to some of the rod bolts since it's locked up, but should be doable. If you're not sure, take out the 1 spark plug and have the engine cranked while sealing the plug hole with your finger - the wind push pushing you finger away is the compression from the piston going up when both valves are closed - i. Aside from that, these heavy-duty pistons will require more clearance for cylinder pressure and heat released on huge turbos. This extra pressure and weight add stress to each part while they are functioning. This figure means it will require less twisting force to move. Here are a few pictures: The arrows are pointing at things I have no clue as to what are Thanks for your time! I don't know the miles for sure, the speedometer says 70,XXX but we've only owned it for four years so I have no idea what's really on it. Does anybody have any ideas of what to look for or what to check? Going to need it in a week or 2. Hi the compression test show 1- psi 3- psi 5- psi 7- psi 2- psi 4- psi 6- psi 8- psi. You cannot drive a at more than its maximum RPM, or you will be putting more stress on its crankshafts and pistons. If I changed plugs and wires it would be ok for a very short time and then go back to doing the same thing wires would even get brittle Finally I changed the coil again coil was in the top of the cap and the problem went away for good and never had another minutes problem with that unit. What carb came off that engine? Hauled it to a local mechanic who along with others file issues rebuilt the carburetor. The rocker ends would find ways out of its line, pushing the pressure on the valve stem until it breaks.
Many thanks for support how I can thank you?
