Back to Graduate Students. Chase centers the interconnection of Blackness, womanhood, and marginalized identity through her painted compositions. Born and raised in Franklin, Tennessee, her southern living experience is a major propeller for her work. I share imagery of the Black body by using nature-filled landscapes, open facial expression, and story in ways that trigger wonder and serenity. My paintings use cast prejudices to re-imagine possibilities, create new interpretations, and ask more questions in effort to give viewers a window to the intricate expansiveness that lives in people of color. From our hair to our attitude, much needs to be re-examined — my goal is to create new points of entry that allow Black women to be whatever they desire to be.

These experiences caused him to pursue acting as a profession. As he had been performing in theater for most of his life, [4] he attended the University of Southern California 's theater school, with the intent of becoming a professional stage actor. He is openly gay. One of Williamson's initial auditions in the first weeks after graduating from USC was for the role of David in John Dies at the End , a role he won; it was his first professional film. Later that year, he portrayed Moritz in Spring Awakening , a stage musical. In , he played the title role in Sparks , a superhero noir film based on the graphic novel of the same name. Growing up, how many children say they want to be a Rockstar or a movie star? Chances are many, but only a few are fortunate enough to live out those dreams. Raised in Southlake, Texas, Chase Williamson had the hopes of acting in film, and in his early twenties, earned himself the lead in the popular film John Dies at the End. A tremendous break for the aspiring young talent, he has since been quite busy in various genres ranging from Horror to Sci-Fi and Comedy. Recently we caught up with Williamson to talk his start in film, looking at the work behind SiREN , his love for Horror films, and more. First, tell us, what inspired your interest in acting? Chase Williamson — I was always acting as a kid in school. Instead, I went out academically and went to USC for acting.
