Now that you're done with the optional quests down in The Great Hollow and Ash Lake , the main quest can resume. It's quite likely you're probably quite confused about what to do at this point, so here's a reminder. Your current aim is to acquire the souls of several bosses spread throughout Dark Soul's vast world. You're doing this because each soul is used to light the Lord Vessel, which you should have placed under Firelink Shrine by talking to Kingseeker Frampt. At this point, the game really opens up. This guide follows the easiest route through the game, but it is perfectly acceptable to do the areas in whichever way you seem fit. For the purposes of this guide you should head to the Catacombs, but you could also alternatively visit:. Start at Firelink Shrine's bonfire. Remember where the cemetery is? If not, head to where Kingseeker Frampt is snoozing away merrily and through the archway to his left.

There are three ways to get here:. Once in the valley, you'll discover a new variety of skeleton enemy - the bonewheel skeleton. They approach on foot, but as they near you, they climb into the spiked wheels they carry with them and roll after you at high speed. Because of their quickness and the limited visibility due to heaps of bones and size of the area, you'll be hard-pressed to defend against any more than 2 of them at once. They also have a long aggro range, so be careful when you are down here, or you could accidentally attract 3 or 4 of them. If they get a solid hit on you, They will stagger-lock you into submission.

It then leads on to Tomb of the Giants. This is a dead-end room with another drop-through grave. Kill the Skeletons here and follow the ledge around to the opposite side of the exit you took. Continue following the path inside the building. I'm at the first bonfire, went and got the great scythe, died, and now have no idea how to leave. Is it safe? Start heading down. You'll have a spiked bridge leading to your left with two Skeletons and one Necromancer on the far side. From the second bonfire, head back down the path towards the second spike bridge, but take that right turn into the entrance passage again. Also note that some statues in this area will shoot a knife at you so stay away from the statues as you run past. Take appropriate precautions. Also note that if you kill Nito, you cannot join or rank up the covenant so make sure you finish this Covenant before killing Nito. Watch out for the statues in this area; they shoot 3 blades out of their chest, you will notice that the booby-trapped ones have extra piece on the chest. Keep your shield up, block the impact and move a bit closer to the wall on the right so they will pass you. Head down the spiral staircase and kill the Skeletons at the bottom. You'll notice that the light in the area lowers significantly as you go in - equipping a light source outlined above is advised from this point on if you're finding it hard to see.
