The residents of Cardston voted overwhelming against the sale of alcohol in local businesses in a plebiscite vote held on Monday evening. Residents of the predominantly Mormon town of Cardston, Alberta, made it abundantly clear in a vote on Monday evening that alcohol has no place in local businesses. A plebiscite vote in Cardston resulted in 1, to to not allow the sale of liquor, continuing a prohibition that has stood in the community for the past years. The town also shot down the possibility of restaurants and recreational facilities selling liquor on a limited basis. I think perhaps you would have to have a new generation of people before that happens again. Other issues decided in the plebiscite included no sporting events booked in public parks on Sundays and no backyard henhouses. When Olu Ifede started working in a Cardston pharmacy six years ago, he never thought he'd see alcohol served in the southern Alberta town. Loved ones of a year-old girl who was killed in a rollover crash late last month gathered in a southern Alberta community for her funeral. Taylor Olsen died when the vehicle she was in lost control and rolled over on Highway southeast of the town of Cardston on April Seth Law, 15, was also in the vehicle and was critically injured in the crash.
