This is a great project to try just for fun or to make box car racers for events like birthday parties, community events or family gatherings or just to play with at home or in the backyard. These were designed as an homage to the soap box derby cars from back in the day. Best of all you can create them using materials found in the recycling bin, common crafting supplies and a cardboard box. The box cars in the photo were for a community event. We created prototypes and then held a public workshop to help others build box cars for the event. Using the design pictured, trace the outline of the Jeep onto the cardboard box, front, sides and back. Sketch on details like the headlights, grill and bumper in pencil on the front.

Hey everyone! So this is a little bit of a throwback to Halloween this year, I made Ethan a Jurassic Park jeep to go with his adorable little T-rex costume. It felt daunting trying to figure it out on my own, but in the end I was pretty happy with the outcome! When I was looking up ideas on how to make it I found a few images but literally no one explained anything, at all. Or if you happen to have large boxes without all the writing, all the better. Then I cut the other box to fit in and create the hood and front, taping it together with your duct tape. The cardboard cake circles became the wheels and I cute smaller circles out for the centers. I printed out the Jurassic park logo and glued that to the sides. I taped off the areas to make the red stripes and used the grey duct tape for the numbers. I cut out the middle of the windshield with a box cutter. I would have done that but I ran out of time! I cut long, rounded rectangular shapes for a grate on the front and square pieces from the leftover cardboard box for the headlights and painted them gold. I also cut a long piece of cardboard for the front and back bumpers and covered it in black duct tape.
