There may be some discrepancies between this text and the in-game creature. Microluminis globulus is best described as a slobbering, roly-poly ball of affection. Just like its kin, it is completely harmless, despite its pronounced fangs. So if a survivor sees one running towards them, they should prepare to be licked, not bitten. Unfortunately, being so ugly that you're cute is not an effective means of self-defense, which lands it near the bottom of the food chain. Its Charge Light may intimidate some predators, but it attracts just as many. While Microluminis globulus has skin reminiscent of lizards or amphibians, its behavior is incredibly similar to a common canine. This has made it a particularly popular choice as a companion and source of Charge Light, but remember - whatever shoulder you rest it on will be covered in drool within minutes. From what the trailer shows, "friendly and cuddly". The Bulbdog is passive and social, and will readily accept treats from survivors. They keep a regular glow from the fleshy projection on their head to help navigate and signal. Microluminus Globulus are small omnivore although mentioned as herbivore in dossier that comes from an unknown time period and has a passive temperament. One of the first creatures you may find in Aberration, the Bulbdog resembles an Anglerfish in a way due to the light it may amazingly provide protection via its light when in Aberration areas. Bulbdog can be found wandering around harmlessly as they do not have a way to defend themselves, making them easy prey for enemies but an idea pet for survivors. While it is a passive creature, the Bulbdog will flee at the slightest hint of danger but their passive temperament allows humans to come near it and even feed it food. The Bulbdog may not be able to attack and deal damage like other shoulder pets but it does provide protection against enemies in Aberration and it can warn its owner of nearby threats.
So how do you tame a Bulbdog of your own, and how exactly does it help you out in the new Aberration expansion? To do this, you just put food in your last hotbar slot, and use it when the taming prompt shows up while looking at the creature. Those are found simply by gathering at mushroom patches on the Aberration map. Alternatively, you could take a flying mount and drop it into a pen, but by the time you have something that can fly, you should ideally have one of these anyway. And why is that? The Bulbdog may not be all that menacing, but its light-emitting bulb has interesting effects that help with traversing the new map. The light fends off the Nameless, which spawn the Reaper King if they manage to swarm you. After all, a Reaper King is really not something you want to deal with unprepared. Outside of the Bioluminescence area, the light has the chance of attracting other small creatures. Overall, this unique Bulbdog is a handy creature to keep around.
