The Hub gives Boston University students the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills, and habits of mind that will bu hub them to be lifelong learners and leaders in a rapidly evolving global community.
It offers them the opportunity to develop the breadth of knowledge and essential skills that will enable them to be lifelong learners and leaders in a rapidly evolving, interconnected, and globalized world. The Hub fosters intellectual exploration by encouraging students to take courses in schools and colleges across the University. Hub courses can fulfill both Hub and major requirements. Students can take Hub courses throughout all of their years of undergraduate study; they are not expected to complete their Hub requirements early in their studies. Hundreds of courses fulfill Hub requirements, and they are offered in all of the undergraduate schools and colleges at BU.

The BU Hub Pathways are an optional way for undergraduates to fulfill some or many of their general education requirements by taking Hub courses from across the University with a focus on an interdisciplinary topic of global significance that may be of particular interest to students. Hub Pathways are intended to provide thematic coherence for students who would like to engage more deeply and widely with these critical, interdisciplinary issues while fulfilling their general education requirements and building upon knowledge from other courses. Your work in the BU Hub will familiarize you with a broad range of fields and will position you to understand and collaborate with experts from other disciplines. As you learn more about the Hub, you will see that it empowers you to make choices about your educational pathway. In order to make the most of the flexibility the program offers, you will need to spend some time on the Hub website to learn how it works. Students who enter BU as first-years must complete 26 Hub requirements. Hub Pathways are intended to provide thematic coherence for students who would like to engage more deeply and widely with these critical, interdisciplinary issues while fulfilling their general education requirements and building upon knowledge from other courses. Requirements for Transfer Students All students who matriculate as transfer students beginning fall or as BU Metropolitan College students beginning fall share the same BU Hub requirements , regardless of their program of study.
