When I plug the printer into my computer it sets itself up just fine and will print basic stuff like web pages etc, but cannot reliably print PDFs and other documents. I almost never use colour any ways. So how can you tell that your Brother driver might need an upgrade? Then I installed the Driver Install Tool from the page above and this does fix the problem.
