Brooks ghost 14 review
Compared to our test lineup of top-notch running shoes, the Ghost 14 provides the great stability and support that Brooks is known for in a reasonably lightweight design. This shoe has a millimeter heel-to-toe drop, which we think is a bit high given that it weighs under 10 ounces men's size 9. There is good cushioning and responsiveness that has a firm and planted feel. We are impressed with the rigidity and durability of this model without the shoe feeling overbuilt or sluggish. This seems to have been a priority when developing the Ghost , with its moderate cushioning that feels stable and supportive. Also, being a tad lighter than some of the supportive models we've tested produces an energetic feel that makes you lighter on your feet. While there isn't a ton of compression, this is suitable for maintaining a supportive design which is great for longer runs and some shorter efforts. We find that the 12mm produces a comfortable footstrike keeping less stress through the lower leg but can reduce the ground feel and dull responsiveness when toeing off. This model has a more traditional, less compressive higher density foam that we generally prefer for a more stable design. There is minimal compaction under load, but the shoe has a nice springy feel during impact and take-off. Power transfer felt sufficient, but we wouldn't mind a bit less drop to really engage all of the muscles in our lower legs. The shoe continues its responsive feel by coming in at under 10 ounces, which allows for smooth turnover and easier running. We found similar responsiveness to the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 21 , though some may find the Ghost 14 is a bit snappier and responsive due to the drop in weight.
I think this could keep consistent "protective" sensation between the heel and forefoot while also making the heel to toe transition more moderate for people with sensitive metatarsals knowing that you'd be trading away benefits of higher drop, brooks ghost 14 review. It's upper isn't quite as roomy with my foot better held if not quite as plushly.
