Broadwayworld message board

Figgerits simple thought of the theatre chat boards like BroadwayWorld or TheatreBoard is enough to send writers, directors, broadwayworld message board, performers and producers running screaming into the night. If producers had magic powers, they would make these boards vanish, but why, why do they have such a bad rap?

Warning: The following blog post is going to make me either incredibly popular in the theatre community or incredibly unpopular in the theatre community. And so on and so forth, until I found myself in a career where it legit revolves around what other people think. Am I good enough, am I pretty enough, am I friendly enough, etc. We get reviews written about us, which other people are allowed to, and overwhelmingly encouraged to, read when they are delivered to their inbox or front doorstep. Hundreds, sometimes thousands of people pay cash money to come sit in a dark room and watch us work. This is what we do and we love it.

Ahh message boards, love them or hate them but they are a place where fans and haters alike congregate to voice their opinions on pretty much everything. While one would hope the discussion remains educated and civil, that's wishing a lot for message boards. Actress Patti Murin found this out this week when looking at BroadwayWorld's message boards. Upon seeing what people had to say about her and the work she's been involved with, she wrote the following blog which I highly recommend looking at. In response, Broadway World has decided to make some adjustments to their message board policy. I also think that the steps Broadway World is taking beyond the message boards, is fantastic. I don't support bullying in any way and the less of it online, especially over theatre, the better.

Discussions shouldn't just be positive because frankly that would be boring and I like to know why someone doesn't like a certain show, actor, composer etc but it's when it becomes abusive its when the mods should step in and take action. As if only liking very few shows automatically makes you more discerning. On one hand, she makes some good points about how abuse and libel shouldn't be acceptable. In fact, some of the most unfortunate incidents on these message boards are from the industry itself. I am officially asking you, Broadway World, to take down your chat boards. I have had possibly a hundred people throughout the years complain to me verbally about the message boards on Broadway World and other sites, let alone what people have emailed me about. But then lumps it all in with criticism or negative opinion in general. Oh, and that message board member who thought my play sucked, well he was right, it did. Short of that though? Discussion is a massive part of the Theatre and because not everyone goes it's important to have a place online where people can come together to discuss. But yes, you are free to say whatever you want. But if one were to criticize a performance a show. The truth is -- I think many hate the occasionally nasty tone of some message boards, while welcoming the community they build.

The thing about ethics are, you have to live by them even when you do not like what happens as a result. And that our director, Casey Hushion, is maybe one of the most genius women to ever cross through the land of Musical Theatre? That is why we are committed to providing deeply reported, carefully fact-checked news that is freely accessible to everyone. As Americans head to the polls in , the very future of our country is at stake. MANNERS go a long way, and there is a way to be truthful and kind at the same time if you just make a tiny bit of effort. I have an excellent life. You are correct. They're afraid of losing ad revenue and of actors refusing to cooperate in their videos, interviews, etc. And this, neonlightsxo, was a really, really good thing. Every discussion forum on every topic has its share of immature brats and intentionally cruel trolls. Kindest regards to a very talented actress. Moderators shouldn't be left to clear up it's up to everyone to keep the place tidy. Here is the thing though, with all the drama that can happen on these boards, they also contain members who I think offer a valuable contribution to the art form, ones who give smart critiques of shows, often far better reviews than the critics themselves.
