Blighttown
It serves as a gateway to Quelaag's Domainblighttown, which then leads on to the Demon Ruins, blighttown. You can also progress to The Great Hollow henryschein subsequently Ash Lake from here, although you don't need to access either of these areas as part of the main quest, blighttown. The entrance to Blighttown can be found in the same room as Domhnall of Zena. Acquire the key to unlock Blighttown by defeating the boss of the Depths : the Blighttown Dragon.
The enemies are equal parts dangerous, aggressive, and annoying. But Blighttown is deceptive. Because of how challenging it is, it feels both more important and more complicated than it is. Blighttown exists to give you items and to convey you to the next Bell of Awakening. There is a path that leads through a lot of twists and turns from the first bonfire to the second and, from there, straight to Quelaag and the second bell. Everything else — every other branch and side path — is there to give you an item.

This section deals with everyone's favorite area: Blighttown. I'm not going to sugar coat it. Blighttown is a massive pain in the backside. This area will test everything you've learned so far and more, so make sure you've visited all the areas detailed beforehand before you even contemplate venturing here. You should also bring Toxic healing herbs, which is an even more potent version of poison. The best way to get a healthy amount of these for nothing is to farm Demonic Foliage in Darkroot Garden. There are three routes to get to Blightown. The first is through The Depths , where you found a merchant in front of a large gate. The second is through the Valley of the Drakes , but the monsters there are extremely powerful and it is not recommended you go there at this point. The third way is by far the easiest, and will require you to start out at Firelink Shrine.

Blighttown is a location in Dark Souls. Blighttown is a rather lengthy area that can be accessed through either the Depths or the Valley of Drakes. The upper parts consist of interconnecting bridges and scaffolding. The bottom portion of the area is a poisonous swamp. Many enemies in the area can inflict a Poison of their own, while Blowdart Snipers are able to deal Toxic from a great distance. Blighttown can be accessed from the Depths by way of a gate that is opened by the Blighttown Key , or through a cave at one end of Valley of Drakes. There are two bonfires in this area.
However, as the player progresses through Anor Londo, they come to find that the city is just as hostile and unforgiving as any other location in Dark Souls. That being said, the most interesting aspect of Anor Londo is the story implications a player can derive. The Dark Souls series is known for providing little-to-no story details directly, instead making the player rely on indirect storytelling shown by the world and its inhabitants. Anor Londo shows itself as a city in eternal sunlight, however, upon investigating further into Anor Londo, the player learns that the city - like its ruler - holds many dark secrets. The story of Anor Londo begins with Gwyn and his desire to rule over Lordran. After discovering a Lord Soul and recruiting other beings who possessed Lord Souls, Gwyn challenged the Everlasting Dragons who ruled over the land, and was able to defeat them due to his ability to manipulate lightning. Once the dragons were defeated, Gwyn began the Age of Fire and took his place as ruler of Lordran, establishing Anor Londo as a capital city and the residence for his family.
Blighttown
A hollowed out tree with a series of twisting branches and roots leading down to a lower portion of the game. It's a relatively small area but made difficult by the perilous downward journey and tough enemies contained within. To access the Great Hollow, attack the two illusory walls at the top of a path on a giant tree root in Blighttown swamp. The area serves as the gateway to Ash Lake. To access the area head left toward the large tree from the Blighttown swamp bonfire and you should see a huge tree root going upward like a ramp that you can walk up. At the top, you can hit the wall to the left of the corpse holding the Plank Shield to reveal a secret area with a chest. Behind the chest you hit this wall too to reveal another secret passage leading down to The Great Hollow. NOTE: It is extremely recommended to obtain the Lordvessel before traversing the Great Hollow, due to the trip down being far easier than getting back up. If you do not possess it, then ignoring the Bonfire s within and using a Homeward Bone or Homeward may also be considered, to avoid the difficulty of ascending.
