He was 70 years old. He loved his dogs, boats and Chevy Caprices. Doug was an accomplished salesman, selling everything from potatoes to Christmas trees, tropical plants to citrus fruit. He knew the backroads of Southern Ontario well, always arriving with a trunkful of cheer. They accepted and cared for him with patience, humour and grace. Everyone who knew Doug will have their own favourite memory to reflect upon. As his long time friend, Janet Bellamy said Doug is likely with his best friend Wayne driving the cosmic highways and byways. Her unwavering friendship toward Doug meant so very much to everyone. With his adoring family by his side, Steve passed away peacefully at home on Saturday March 16 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Steve was born to humble, yet loving beginnings as the eldest of five children. Not only large in stature, he had the personality to match. He loved working, and loved a good time with family, friends, and business associates — many who became lifelong friends. He started working from a young age which led him to the trucking industry. Over the last 17 years, Steve, as the CEO, poured his heart and soul into growing and leading a profitable and respected trucking company, employing just under employees.

Dad fell ill recently and on September 27 th , he unexpectedly succumbed to his illness. He spent his last days at home with our loving mom Karen. This is a great shock to us as dad was just visiting Tyler and his family in Dawson and everything was great. He was a man of the fire, always cutting wood, spending time with friends and family around the campfire telling stories. He was super generous and was always there to help people. He really believed in living simple and understood the benefit of small communities. Many years ago Dad went to Dawson City to mine for gold and loved it so much that he moved his family of 6 there in a school bus.
