Resurrecting after years, he has rebuilt his empire - now called the Wandenreich - and has set his sights on finishing what he has started. An autocrat who is as ruthless and heartless as they come, he commits one atrocity after another in his "crusade. Yhwach holds the letter "A" of "The Almighty", serving as the supreme commander of the Wandenreich's military.

He doesn't explain much about his heritage, save that his grandfather had been one of the last-surviving Quincy. Like the Shinigami, these spiritually aware beings are capable of destroying Hollows, except they don't rely on Zanpakutos. Instead, the Quincy employ a unique arsenal of techniques presumably crafted by their founder. Until Bleach' s final arc, the only Quincy characters are Uryu, Soken, and Ryuken — all members of the same family. Several new Quincies attack the Seireitei during the Thousand-Year Blood war, shattering the Gotei 13's illusion of safety. This group, known as the Sternritter, effectively overwhelms the Shinigami of Soul Society.
Most of the Quincy were exterminated by the Shinigami over years ago in order to prevent the collapse of the worlds due to the Quincy over-hunting and destroying all Hollows they encountered. Quincy are spiritually aware Humans able to absorb and manipulate Reishi into spiritual weapons. At some point within their history, the Quincy began to distinguish themselves based upon an individual's ancestry and adopted the practice of true-breeding. Yhwach is a special Quincy who empowers other people and can take that power back. Some Quincy cannot naturally absorb Reishi from their surroundings to turn into their power, but instead give out their power to others around them, [14] [15] though it is still possible for them to learn Reishi manipulation. The final point of contrast between the Quincy and Shinigami is their respective choice of uniform. While the Shinigami wear traditional, black, flowing hakama, the Quincy wear white, form-fitting, high-collared tunics.
