Black noise, also known as special cause variation, is a type of variation that can occur in Lean Six Sigma. Black noise is a non-random deviation from expected output. In other words, it is something that does not fit the pattern of what was supposed to happen; it is not a part of the process. Black noise is generally caused by human error or random events that occur outside of the normal parameters of a process, such as equipment failure or a change in environment. Whatever the cause, it is always assignable. Black noise, or special cause variation, can have both benefits and drawbacks in the context of Lean Six Sigma. There is ultimately one main benefit to black noise: it enables businesses to understand and predict processes so that improvements can be made to them, which reduces waste and makes them more efficient in general. All possible causes of variation must be evaluated before work can begin on improving anything. This can take time and money that might be better spent elsewhere if there is no access to resources like data scientists or engineers who can help analyze things.

When we think of noise, we usually think of the sounds noises make — honking, shrieking, purring, melodious, rhythmic, etc. You probably rarely find yourself talking about the colors of noise. The idea of the colors of noise uses the idea of color to describe certain frequencies of noise, starting with white noise, which most people understand is a blanket of sound that drowns out other sound, in the same way white light combines and therefore drowns out all other colors of light.

Thanks for this great tool and the productivity it ensures! Thank you so much! It is interesting how different levels of noise put me in different states of mind. I put on Speech Blocker and woke up the next morning refreshed! I'll be using it for my next book, too. I am using it for my therapy practice and also at home in various ways. I don't know why it's so relaxing and helps me to concentrate so much, but it does. I have never been this relaxed before! I use the white rain with the speech blocker settings, but had to slide up the low treble and treble freq to make the rain sound right. I hold my breath and put my head under the surface to hear that sound from beneath. However I find the brown rain is extremely effective at cancelling them out, without being distracting to me. Keep on spreading the word, guys! It brings me comfort and an instant memory when I feel lost, so I thank you mynoise for bringing us more than just sounds. L:o L It is way better than listening to loud music as it doesn't hurt your ears.
