They work well in confinement or free range and make a great back yard type chicken. The Black Laced Red Wyandotte is not currently recognized by the Standard of Perfection; however, several are working on getting this color recognized. In we used a Jerry Foley rooster and blended it with our production type wyandottes for first stage project and developed this color. With the emerging of the Blue Laced Red Wyandotte and other colors, we feel it would be less confusing to have a full descriptive breed name.
