Megatron aka Savage, Noble , Gnashteeth, Beast Megatron, Galavar and, um, Joe began with one goal: restoring glory and power to the Predacon race, with himself at the helm. By finding and killing the Autobot leader Optimus Prime as he lay in stasis aboard the craft, a 'bot could alter history in favor of the Decepticons, ensuring their victory in the war, and Predacon rule in the present. Stealing a ship , Megatron and his crew departed through a transwarp portal, but were pursued by the Maximal starship Axalon , captained by Optimus Primal. The two ships emerged from transwarp over an unknown planet, where they promptly crash-landed. The presence of two moons in the sky suggested that the world on which they found themselves was not Earth—but it was rich in energon , which Megatron could use to fuel his conquest of the Maximals one way or the other. So rich, in fact, that the Maximals and Predacons had to adopt organic beast forms to protect themselves against the massive amount of energon radiation, with Megatron taking the shape of a purple Tyrannosaurus rex. Dinobot chastised Megatron, accusing him of leading the Predacons to the wrong planet and challenged Megatron for leadership of the Predacons.
