Hull City consolidated their place in the Championship play-off chase by fighting back to beat bottom side Rotherham United. Jaden Philogene's audacious rabona-style strike, which took a deflection off Millers defender Cameron Humphreys-Grant, cancelled out Christ Tiehi's early opener for the hosts. A first Hull goal for recent signing Noah Ohio secured the Tigers' first league double against Rotherham for 40 years. Despite the win, Hull actually dropped a place due to Norwich - level on points and goal difference - climbing into sixth spot by virtue of goals scored after the Canaries' win over Watford. Even so, there was no denying Hull's superiority at the New York Stadium. Rotherham, meanwhile, ended the game still searching for their first win since Boxing Day and remain 12 points from safety at the foot of the table. And yet the evening had started so brightly for the hosts.

Fabio Carvalho struck a second-half winner as Hull City moved up into the Championship play-off spots with a narrow victory at fellow top-six contenders Sunderland. In a poor game, the on-loan Liverpool forward produced the decisive moment in the 71st minute when his volley took a big deflection off the head of Dan Neil and wrong-footed goalkeeper Anthony Patterson for his first Hull goal. There were few real chances - Trai Hume had Sunderland's best effort when his piledriver was pushed over by Ryan Allsop. But after a run of four defeats in five games, the victory moves the Tigers up to sixth, while the Black Cats drop a place to eighth as they were booed off at full-time. However, both sides could slip down a tight table on Saturday depending on the results of teams in and around them, with just three points separating seventh from 13th spot. It was an occasion most Black Cats fans are keen to forget after public relations mistakes in the lead-up, being outclassed on the pitch and watching their Tyneside opponents then celebrate at length afterwards. But they have now followed it up with two losses in the league. Michael Beale, who replaced the popular Tony Mowbray in December, has yet to win over supporters and indifferent form since has not helped to bring them on side. The first half did little to change that mood as the hosts managed only one shot on target - a tame one from Alex Pritchard - and struggled to put Hull under too much pressure. Not that the Tigers were particularly threatening either, with Lewie Coyle's shot when he came up from right-back, comfortably saved by Patterson, their best moment. More notable was the fact that five Hull players had been booked by regular Premier League referee Rob Jones before the interval, the most in the first half for any Championship side this season. It was not until past the hour mark that a goalkeeper was properly extended when Allsop had to tip over defender Hume's powerful drive from outside the area. But that did not bother the visitors as they found the way to goal thanks to year-old Carvalho.

Hull City moved back into the Championship play-off places and put a dent in Southampton's automatic promotion hopes by winning at St Mary's. The Saints had won nine consecutive home league games prior to this one, but first-half goals from on-loan pair Anass Zaroury and Fabio Carvalho earned the Tigers a valuable win. Substitute Joe Aribo pulled a goal back for Saints late in the game but it was not enough to prevent a fourth consecutive away victory for Liam Rosenior's side, a run that has helped them back in the top six. Southampton, who had not lost at home to Hull since , have lost two of their past three games following their club-record match unbeaten run. The Saints had eyes on second place at the start of the evening, after Friday's win at West Bromwich Albion had seen them bounce straight back from the defeat at Bristol City which had brought their historic unbeaten sequence to an end.
Hull City saw off Championship play-off hopefuls West Bromwich Albion as they scored a goal in each half to claim only their seventh home league win of the season. Ghana striker Benjamin Tetteh, brought in for his first home start since the tragic loss of one of his best friends Christian Atsu in the Turkey-Syria earthquake in early February, struck a memorable first goal for the club. One of Benji's best friends was Christian Atsu. He's been down so I'm sure he'll dedicate that goal to him. Hull doubled their lead after the break with a Dara O'Shea own goal - and Albion could not find a way past home goalkeeper Karl Darlow as they suffered a fourth league defeat in seven games. It was also a fifth straight reverse on the road for injury-hit Albion, who are still without first-choice keeper Alex Palmer and winger Matt Phillips, who were joined on the sidelines by three more of their forwards - Grady Diangana, Brandon Thomas-Asante and Karlan Grant.

Hull City fought back to beat Middlesbrough and condemn the hosts to a third consecutive defeat. Boro were ahead early when neat play between Lukas Engel and Sam Greenwood on the left teed up Isaiah Jones, whose shot was blocked before Emmanuel Latte Lath stabbed in the rebound. The hosts were punished for failing to extend their lead when Jacob Greaves flicked on Tyler Morton's corner to the back post, where Liam Delap nodded in the equaliser unmarked. Tigers goalkeeper Ryan Allsop then denied Greenwood from close range before Ozan Tufan swept in Hull's winner from the edge of the box with nine minutes left. Allsop then made a stunning triple save from Jones, Rav van den Berg and Dael Fry in the seventh minute of stoppage time as Hull snatched their fifth away league win of the season.
