A few summers ago, in a desperate bid for inspiration, I looked to some of my favourite stylish people of all ages to figure out what it was they were all doing so right. Turns out linen was the common denominator in all of their outfits—from dresses to shirts and even tailoring. The epitome of summer ease, linen, unlike recognisable prints or colour trends, is timeless, and the quality is long-lasting, so you can pull out the same classic pieces year after year. As soon as the temperatures rise, the light fabric works for relaxed weekends pottering around the house or running errands, it works for the office, and it even works as occasionwear. Unsurprisingly, Arket— the minimalist mecca —does amazing linen pieces, and I can personally vouch for its shirts, shorts and linen trousers that I lived in last summer. Kicking off the week with a cheeky round up of my favourite finds from the Arket sale. Leaning in on one of the key reasons I adore the brand beyond the fact that everything is well made, of course! Essentially, basics you can expect to see yourself wearing for years and years. I tend to prefer a longline trench like this as it has a little more drama that a traditional or cropped style. Oversized, and relaxed, this makes the perfect work to weekend style, that can also travel with you on vacation think chic beach cover up. This brown leather belt has a bit of a red undertone to it, which warms up a minimal colour palette beautifully. I love this design, as the leather looks luxurious, but the style has sporty elements with that drawstring closure which, makes it secure! It also has a decent strap drop which should fit over chunky knits and coats too — perfect! It immediately feels more formal, which I put down to the modest hemline. These are a viscose, linen and cotton blend, which means you can expect there to be some structure, but also a silky quality to the fabric. Also comes in classic black, too. This is a linen and cotton blend, in that classic cut that Arket seems to be bringing back season on season very Toteme-esque. Tres chic! Adding in that soft touch of colour.

I often catch myself surveying my closet in the mornings searching for an outfit that ticks all the boxes of being comfy, stylish, warm-weather appropriate and polished. But recently, I came across an outfit formula that I think fits all these requirements, so of course, I had to share it with you. Since Arket is so smart at knowing what really works, it's made its linen co-ords in not one but seven colour options. Some have long- and short-sleeve shirt options, and there are shorts or trousers to choose from too. If there's one thing fashion people can't stop wearing right now, it's linen trousers. It's no surprise really, considering they're comfy, chic and perfect for this ongoing heatwave we're experiencing. They work effortlessly on summer holidays, or running errands on hot weekends in the city—even for the office. Linen trousers are so in demand right now, and such a summer classic, that most retailers have a number of designs to choose from. However, there's one pair specifically that I keep seeing fashion people—from influencers to editors—wearing on repeat, and that's Arket's linen drawstring trousers. I myself now have them in three colours, and I always get complimented on them every time I wear them. Plus, I can confirm they are the easiest thing to pull on in the morning when it's scorching outside but you still want to feel nice and put-together.

It's just so damn perfect that I think you can stop searching and dedicate the rest of the year to other sartorial pursuits such as shopping for a great designer handbag. Dubbed the 'cotton linen coat,' it's cut at a flattering calf length and is slightly oversized, immediately making it look more expensive. It's crafted from a blend of linen and cotton and features a slightly rounded collar as well as slanted pockets and tortoiseshell buttons down the front. The beauty of a trench coat is that it is endlessly versatile. Whether you're choosing to pair it alongside jeans and a t-shirt or throw it over a printed midi dress, a classic beige trench like the one below will go with just about everything you own. Now, I will say that Arket has a few other great trench coats available, so I feel obliged to include them, too. Some of the iterations are a little more classic, while others could be a contemporary addition to your wardrobe. Arket's linen cotton trench is a timeless take on the item and features a double-breasted silhouette, alongside shoulder epaulettes and an adjustable waist belt. While the brand also has a cropped trench on offer, if you're interested in trying a slightly more modern silhouette.
