As a member of an organization, you can also share your work with other members of your organization, participate in groups, and save your work. An ArcGIS public account is a free account for personal, noncommercial use. An ArcGIS public account has limitations. You become a member of an ArcGIS organization when you are added to or invited to join the organization. The administrator can either create your account for you or allow you to create your own account. If the administrator creates your account, you receive an email invitation with instructions on signing in to your account. If your administrator instead invites you to join with a new account you create , you receive an email invitation with instructions for creating your own organizational account. If you have a public account and are invited to join an existing ArcGIS organization, you can convert your public account to an organizational account. The public account becomes an organizational account and all your content moves to the organization. An ArcGIS public account is a free account that is available for individuals to create and share content with limits on usage.
Click Create an account. If you chose to remember the organization's URL, the corresponding organization name will appear by default on the sign-in page the next time you sign in.
If you have publishing privileges in the organization, signing in also allows you to publish hosted layers to the organization. Your administrator can use your organization's enterprise security infrastructure to set up other forms of authentication, such as allowing you to sign in to ArcGIS Online with your Windows login. In that case, you use the same ArcGIS Online sign in dialog box, but you enter the login information provided by your administrator. If you have an intermittent connection, such as when you're in the field with periodic connectivity, change this setting to have ArcMap test for a connection at a designated interval. This way, you can be alerted when you lose your connection and are unable to access the functionality you need. If you always work offline, you can change this setting so ArcGIS never checks for a connection.
