The two Ancestral Reaper Leviathans found in opens waters in Sector two can be seen swimming alongside one or two Reaper-Shark Leviathans. There are a total of five Ancestral Reaper Leviathans in Sector 2. To me, if these are what are considered Leviathans, then I don't really need to be too worried about being on this planet.
While I don't have a problem with what the developers choose to call their creatures, I find it very bothersome that the creatures with "Leviathan" in their name are considered Leviathans. In other mythos, Leviathans are like a mile or more long, not meters long. Calling them monsters should definitely fit their role, but calling them Leviathans is being extremely generous. These creatures are large, yes, but if they're going to be classed as a "Leviathan", they should be no smaller than the Aurora, itself. And before anyone starts countering by arguing that this "isn't other mythos, it's the dev's own game", I'm not trying to say that things need to be correct according to our physics or our beliefs.
Subnautica and its sequel Below Zero are two fascinating twists on the usual survival game. Combining alien worlds and a vast underwater setting, they feature a variety of fascinating and fearsome fauna. Among these many creatures are the games' Leviathan-class organisms. Bringing the fearsome myths of old to life, both games host a variety of Leviathans in their waters, some more dangerous than others. Sea Treaders are among the more passive Leviathans, and will not actively attack players unless provoked usually done by getting closely in front of them. Being set on the mysterious alien planet of B, Subnautica mixes survival elements with exploration as players set out to discover why their ship crashed. Dominated by water, the planet is filled with its own array of plants and animals—some of which are incredibly dangerous. One of those animals, the Reaper Leviathan, is infamous as being one of the more terrifying creatures in the entire game. This infamy is particularly noteworthy since reapers can be encountered fairly early in any given playthrough. As overachieving gamers, this naturally begs the question of if it can be killed or not. Due to their size, reaper leviathans reside in large areas with a lot of open space. This means they can reside in areas like the Crash Zone, Dunes, and Mountain biomes. But more often than not, it is the reapers who find the players and not the other way around. They use echolocation to find their prey and to get a feel for their surroundings. Their propensity to ambush players in open water is why the reapers have an infamous reputation in the first place.
