The famous, the infamous Angel! Love it or hate it, this powerful blue-tinged scent in its ever evolving but always fabulous clunky star bottle 1 made its mark in the world of perfumery. Not only popular even after a couple of decades , this fragrance was so innovative it actually opened way to a whole new genre of scents: the gourmands. Now, for what this groundbreaking fragrance smells like… With a name like Angel , one might expect it to be airy, fresh and serene, almost ethereal in its transparency. Now this, dear reader, is no clean, smooth, dreamy Chanelesque patchouli… This stuff is earthy; dark; rough-textured; herbal-smoky like a cigarette which, by the way, I loathe and heavily mentholated, which makes it feel chemical and quite masculine. A definitely non-angelic, angry beast, roaring and screeching from the tiniest spray… and from the nozzle. Along comes an also intense, slightly powdery and quite bitter chocolate — which I find a much welcome note. It both harmonizes and contrasts with the patchouli, adding a comforting touch to its earthyness and pulling back — a bit — its more aggresive facets. It also gets more chocolate-y, and less masculine… Still intense and chemical-feeling, though. Notes: Top bergamot, melon, coconut, cassis, mandarin, jasmine, pineapple, cotton candy; Heart caraway, nutmeg, apricot, red berries, jasmine, honey, plum, peach, rose, blackberry, orchid, jasmine, muguet; Base tonka, vanilla, patchouli, amber, musk, chocolate, caramel. Evokes: A chemical accident, giant perfume tonnels mixing, factory workers running to save their noses. Angel is one of those fragrances that smell unmistakable and unforgettable — for good and for bad. If you like dark-earthy, warm and statement-style scents, and intense, herbal patchouli, you will probably like Angel.

It must have been in With the newer formulations, though, the mystery and intrigue of the scent is no longer there, angel mugler perfume review, and this is sadly true also for the original scent due to overuse. I thought this smelled like bug spray when I inhaled it deeply for the first time ever.

When I learned that Thierry Mugler had passed away on January 23, I recalled my feelings the first time a sales associate offered me a sniff of the original Angel in a department store: I was intrigued, repelled, and somewhat confused. I didn't buy it, but it lingered in my mind and I kept trying it whenever I spotted that distinctive pale blue star bottle on my shopping rounds. In the late s and early s, I'd occasionally smell Angel on another woman on the subway, at a party, at a professional conference, and sometimes it smelled glorious on someone else, and sometimes it didn't, but it was always distinctive and not quite like any other perfume I did eventually purchase a small bottle of Angel, which I still wear sparingly on occasion — I admire it intensely, as an artistic achievement, but it just isn't me. I've traditionally gravitated more towards Angel's flankers. I somehow never tried Angel Nova when it was released in oh, right! The Mugler website describes Angel Nova as "a captivating, super-feminine fragrance that exudes instant pleasure and confidence.

Along comes an also intense, slightly powdery and quite bitter chocolate — which I find a much welcome note. Projection and longevity are above-average. But then it got December 4, July 16, Cheers for the batch code info. I blame Angel for the now dominant, overly sweet, sometimes headache-inducing fragrances that saturate the market. Long story short, I like Angel, I really do. I don't just don't like Angel. No gentle, angel-like creatures, especially no bitchy, pale lean models, but real full-wives, drama queens with the courage to controversy and yes, even to ugliness. This is a modern classic gourmand fragrance. More reviews. The bottle I have is either a fake yes, I do believe Amazon has been guilty of that or in fact the reformation is that disappointing. Tasteless, I know, actually not in good conscience justifiable. I can best describe it as "bitter-herbaceous-synthetic" and it bites in the nose. It took them a while, but I guess you need to prove that you can maintain super seller status for at least a decade, and still sell. Well, sadly it suffers both in artistic impression and technical merit. Before you buy any more on Ebay, always ask for the batch code stamped on the bottom of the box. I find it very earthy and mysterious! Inextricably linked to it. I can't believe I haven't written anything about the original "Angel" But for me, it remains quite appealing and, at best, undressing. No gentle, angel-like creatures, especially no bitchy, pale lean models, but real full-wives, drama queens with the courage to controversy and yes, even to ugliness.
